I first got involved with “The Malcolm Whales Foundation” in 2008. My son asked if he could go on a Sponsored Charity Walk along the Jurassic Coast in Dorset with other students from Ely College, led by Damien Whales who was Head of Sport. It was intended as a physical challenge for the students whilst at the same time raising money for a worthy cause.

I went along to the very first meeting and became immediately on board with Damien’s vision of forming a charity in his Father’s name in order to support, mostly teenagers and their families going through the diagnosis of Cancer. It has been a privilege to be involved with the drive and determination of the Charity to try and make a difference to other people’s lives in times of need.

This year is the 15th Anniversary of the now famous “Dorset Walk”. With the support of our Trustees, Patrons and Ambassadors we have developed from a tiny acorn into a mighty oak of a charity. Our biggest project yet is “The Malcolm Whales Rookery Waters Lakeside Retreat” – check out our web page.
