We are truly honoured and proud to have been made trustees of The Malcolm Whales Foundation (TMWF), a charity whose slogan, “Taking Steps to Beat Cancer” perfectly captures its mission to make a lasting difference in the fight against cancer.

Our involvement started with the non-Dorset walk in 2020. After that it was only a matter of time before we, the two of us plus our 4 children, would take on the real thing in Dorset. Not really knowing what to expect, we set off to Dorset in 2022, with our sons Liam, Jack and Harry plus our Daughter Sophie. They were 17, 15, 13 and 9 years old at the time. The walk was everything we hoped and more, it was tough but incredibly rewarding and it turned out that Damien’s “sales pitch” was in fact a reality – we really did witness many youngsters (and some adults!), including our own (and us), pushing themselves out of their
comfort zone, growing in confidence and becoming more rounded, better people. Its hard to put into words just how rewarding the whole event is. We now attend every year and despite not being keen on walking normally, our children never want to miss it! We have also enjoyed taking part in numerous other charity events, such as playing in the Richard Marley Memorial Netball Tournament and Abseiling down Peterborough hospital! Raising both awareness and funds for this amazing charity is always so much fun!!

TMWF has also inspired us to set our own family challenges! We have run numerous cake stalls, taken on the local 46 mile Pathfinder walk and also achieved The National Three Peaks Challenge!

As trustees, we are excited to help the foundation grow and reach even more individuals and families impacted by cancer. We look forward to contributing our energy, time, and passion to furthering the foundation’s mission, and we are proud to stand alongside a community united in taking steps to beat cancer.
