Malcolm’s Retreat is something truly special. Providing cancer wellbeing and respite lodge breaks for free.
This page outlines how you can support families, and shows the amazing businesses and people who are helping us make a difference.
Set beside a peaceful lake in rural Cambridgeshire,
Malcolm’s Retreat offers free breaks to families affected by cancer, as well as to the staff and volunteers who care for them.
The lodge is located at Rookery Waters, a Fenland fishery and working farm, nestled in a tranquil and scenic part of the county. Positioned on the bank of
Rook, one of the pleasure fishing lakes, the lodge provides a serene and restorative environment where guests can pause, breathe, and simply be.
Since opening in January 2025, the lodge has provided non-stop breaks to those impacted by cancer.
Every visit is a chance for families to reconnect, for carers to rest, and for individuals to find a moment of peace in the midst of unimaginable challenges.
It costs the charity just over £750 per month to keep the retreat running and continue offering breaks at no charge. We’re inviting local businesses and individuals to sponsor a month—either as a one-off donation or an annual contribution of £500 to £750.
Your support would mean you’ve helped make something truly special happen.
You could enable:
● Up to eight families, each facing the hardest of times, to spend precious time together.
● Carers, support workers, and their loved ones to recharge and take a well-earned break from the incredible care they provide
In return, we’ll proudly recognise your generosity with:
● Enhanced social media coverage and in-lodge recognition during your sponsored month
● A thank-you feature on our website and social media platforms
● Heartfelt feedback and reviews from guests – many of which are real tearjerkers, and we’d love to share
them with you
● Opportunities to visit the retreat and see the impact of your support firsthand
Most of all, you’ll know the difference you’re making to families navigating some of life’s most difficult
moments.
