Respite and Wellbeing breaks
See below for further information around how to register your interest for:
- A Respite Break – for families or people affected by cancer
- A Wellbeing Break – for people that are involved with the care of those affected by cancer.
- The Availability Calendar (as up to date as we can make it)
Every 4th week/weekend will be allocated for Wellbeing Breaks – they will remain empty if ‘staff’ don’t use it.
Registering for a Respite Break
These breaks are available free of charge for any families or people affected by cancer.
- The stay can be for up to a week.
- Arrival can be almost anytime across an available week.
- We ask that if there for a midweek break people depart Friday morning to enable weekend arrivals. If there for the weekend please depart before 11am on Monday mornings to enable cleaning before the next user.
- We will try and accommodate times and days that work for you.
Timings during term time
- If this break is taken during term time we can provide a letter to send to the school which will confirm the reason for the break and why the break cannot be taken during the school holidays.
- To enable the schools to authorise they would be much more likely to support if there is current treatment occurring.
Eligibility
- We will need, as crude as it sounds, some evidence of the diagnosis/treatment – nothing too detailed!

Registering for a Wellbeing Break
We often see the incredible work that staff and volunteers do when providing care and support for people and their families going through cancer diagnosis and treatment. It has always been a challenge to offer anything to those amazing people, they consistently say we must put their patients first.
We feel strongly that looking after the support staff is looking after the patients – please take us up on this offer!
The wellbeing breaks we provide will be available throughout the year and MUST be used by support staff. The lodge will stand empty if not used.
The breaks can be up to a week and is also available for shorter or weekend breaks,
