Richard Marley Memorial Netball Tournament – 2021
After the year of COVID and a year without the Richard Marley Memorial Tournament, it was time to bring it back. After a horrendous week of rain, Sunday 3rd October turned out to be a sunny, but windy day. A solid 8 teams arrived at Kings Ely, with a real mixture of ages and abilities across the board, along with a large spectator crowd who stuck to eating cake and buying raffle tickets.
Games began on the two courts, and teams meant business, with the wind and sun making them interesting. Each team came out fighting, some knowing (and sticking to) the rules, more than others, but there was constant laughter on both courts. The final air horn blew and teams were knackered, no final was needed this year due to Witchford managing to win all seven of their games. Demonstrating standard behaviour, Damien tried to break the rules in numerous games, as well as blaming poor umpiring as to why they were not in the top position.
The final figure from our fifth year of the Richard Marley Memorial Netball Tournament was £975 for TMWF which is amazing. Supporting a charity local, and so special to us as a family makes seeing such a large total unbelievable, and we hope the total will continue to rise as the years go on.
